Is the MSc in Financial Economics the right programme for you?

You are most likely reading this post as a current or future MSc in Financial Economics applicant. However, even if you do not fit in this category, I sincerely hope you will enjoy this short article and gain a better idea of what this master’s degree is all about. Rather than talking about myself, I hope to be able to show you what this programme could bring you personally.

It is fair to say that the challenge of the MFE will significantly exceed that of your bachelor degree, and greatly push your intellectual boundaries. The programme combines a highly rigorous academic journey with a strong emphasis on learning how to code that will undoubtedly enhance your experience and understanding of finance and economics. You will dedicate a whole year of your life to study these topics in-depth. Perhaps most importantly, Oxford will offer you the most incredible environment to study in. Besides being surrounded by centuries-old historical buildings, the true value of an Oxford degree is in the people you get to meet here and their sincere passion for what they study, from Byzantine literature to financial economics. The experience as a whole will allow you to get to know yourself, your priorities and your values on a deeper level than ever before.

The MFE is not just a profound intellectual challenge, but also an experience you share with an inspiring cohort. I personally consider these aspects to have been absolutely worth the investment, and words cannot quite do justice to the essence of the MFE experience and how special Oxford is. If you are considering applying, I encourage you to reach out to members of the MFE community, be it alumni or current students, to better understand whether the programme could be the perfect fit for you.
